In any company involvement of employees are mandatory to decision making policy. What are its advantages and disadvantages?

The human resources are the backbone of every organisation. Their growth and collapse depends on the rise and fall of the company they work for. Every organisation has its own operating system. The participation of the workforce in setting up guidelines is considered obligatory these days. This contribution of workers, in fixing rules and regulations, has its positive and negative effects. This essay will throw light on the both outcomes.

To begin with, the feeling of a perfect team member is inculcated amongst all. It helps to retain the positive ambience at work place. People working at every level understand their responsibilities and work with more concern and determination. The sense of belongingness for company becomes stronger when employees get appropriate attention and recognition. Besides this, the administrators’ burden is reduced as people of various departments bring forth their respective problems along with their solutions. This eventually helps the management to take prompt decisions that even without the fear of rolling it back in case of failure in execution, being suggested by the beneficiaries themselves.

Alternatively, this practice may turn into a time consuming and massive exercise. As certain problems required to be addressed urgently, so in such situations, waiting for the consent of all seems impractical.  Additionally, too many suggestions may cause difficulties in taking decisions unanimously. As per a common say,’ too many cooks spoil the broth’ the raised objections by the dissenters may delay the decision making process.

To conclude, it is drawn that the workforce of every company plays significant role in its development. The participation of workers in taking decisions depends on the structure and volume of the organisation.  In order to make a balance between the benefits and drawbacks of employees’ participation, judicious planning is needed.
