Levels and Test Format
DELF A1 is a test designed to check use of familiar words and simple phrases by the non-native French speakers. At this stage, the test taker should be able to introduce himself or someone else & can ask and answer basic questions about home, family, surroundings, etc. The test taker should have the basic knowledge of the language to communicate
The Test is owned by Centre international d’études pédagogiques (CIEP) &Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) and is conducted by Alliance Française. The Exam fee is Rs. 4494 (as per March, 2015).
The result of DELF A1 is declared online on the official site of ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE within 2/3 months. DELF certification is internationally recognised with lifetime validity.

DELF A1 is a test designed to check use of isolated phrases and common expressions that relate to areas of high personal relevance (like personal or family information, shopping, and immediate environment, work by the basic user of French. At this stage, the test taker should be able to communicate during easy or habitual tasks requiring a basic and direct information exchange on familiar subjects.
The Test is owned by Centre international d’études pédagogiques(CIEP) & Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) and is conducted by: Alliance Française. The Exam fee is Rs. 4494 (as per March, 2015). The result of DELF A2 is declared online on the official site of ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE within 2/3 months. DELF certification is internationally recognised with lifetime validity.

DELF B1 is a test designed to check the capability of test taker with situations likely to arise in daily life. At this level, the user becomes independent. He/she can maintain interaction: he/she can understand and maintain a discussion and give his/her opinion.
Test is owned by Centre international d’études pédagogiques(CIEP) & Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) and is conducted by Alliance Française. The Exam fee is Rs.5618 (as per March, 2015). The result of DELF B1 is declared online on the official site of ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE within 2/3 months. DELF certification is internationally recognised with lifetime validity.

DELF B2 is a test designed to check a degree of independence that allows him/her to construct arguments to defend his/her opinion, explain his/her viewpoint and negotiate. At this level, the candidate has a degree of fluency and spontaneity in regular interactions and is capable of correcting his/her own mistakes. The Test is owned by Centre international d’études pédagogiques (CIEP) & Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) and is conducted by Alliance Française.
The result of DELF B2 is declared online on the official site of ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE within 2/3 months. DELF certification is internationally recognised with lifetime validity.

DALF C1 is a test designed to check the level of the test taker to understand the main ideas of concrete or abstract topics in a complex text, including a technical article in the user’s area of expertise. At this stage, the test taker can communicate with a degree of spontaneity and fluency during a conversation with a native speaker, in a way that is comfortable for everyone.

DALF C2 is a test designed to check the capability of the test taker to understand almost everything he or she reads or hears. At this stage, the test taker can express himself or herself precisely in a spontaneous, fluent way, conveying finer shades of meaning precisely.

The results of the TCF ensure that candidates are reliably positioned on the Council of Europe’s six-level scale (from A1 to C2).
The TCF for Quebec, has been specially designed to be consistent with the standards of the Ministry of Immigration (MICC) of Quebec, and is only intended for people wishing to settle in Quebec.
From 1 August 2013, the Quebecoise authorities require a minimum B2 level to issue a maximum of 16 points for this linguistic evaluation.

Your results are sent to the test centre within 20 days (excluding weekends and public holidays) from the date that the test papers are received by the CIEP. You must collect your certificate directly from the centre at which you took the “TCF for Quebec” examinations.
Validity: Your TCF for Quebec certificate is only valid for your immigration application. You cannot use it, for example, for admission to a French university. Your certificate has a limited validity period. It is valid for 2 years.

Test d’Evaluation de Français is designed to assess the level of French language of people who are non-native French speakers. It is useful if you need to evaluate your French skills for Canadian Immigration, French Universities or for work. This test is designed to evaluate comprehension and expression skills in French. The overall objective of the TEF is to measure the level of the candidates’ knowledge, linguistic and communications skills in French.
Test owned by: Centre international d’études pédagogiques (CIEP) & Quebecoise Ministry for Immigration CCIP.

Result: The TEF scores are sent to the candidate by email within two weeks of the test date. It takes 2-4 weeks from the test date to get the certificate.
